Sugaring
Sugaring
Sugaring is a method of hair removal that uses a natural paste made primarily of sugar, lemon juice, and water. The paste is heated to a lukewarm temperature and applied to the skin in the opposite direction of hair growth. Once applied, the paste adheres to the hair and is quickly removed in the direction of hair growth, taking the hair with it.
Sugaring is often seen as a gentler alternative to waxing because it doesn't stick to the skin as much, reducing the chances of irritation. It’s also considered more natural because it uses simple, skin-friendly ingredients. This method can be used on various parts of the body, including the face, legs, and bikini area.
Benefits of Sugaring
Less irritation: The paste only sticks to the hair, not the skin, making it less painful for many people.
Natural ingredients: Sugaring paste is typically made from sugar, lemon, and water, which are gentle on the skin.
Long-lasting results: Like waxing, sugaring removes hair from the root, so results can last 3-6 weeks.
Exfoliating: The process also helps to exfoliate the skin, leaving it feeling smooth after treatment.
Sugaring is THE MOST gentle form of hair removal. You will immediately notice less redness and bumps from your first sugaring session.
It naturally exfoliates the skin leaving it not only smooth from hair removal but silky soft from exfoliation as well- applied with the hand of the technician and no sticks are used. The ball of sugar is used over and over so there is no re-dipping or risk of cross contamination making sugaring the safest and most hygienic form of hair removal. It is not heated, the paste is at about room temperature making the application more comfortable than hot wax. No risk of burning the skin.
Sugar paste is applied in the opposite direction of hair growth, allowing the paste to lift the hair off of the surface of the skin and really grab on to the shaft of the hair, as well as enter into the follicle where the root is. The paste is then removed in the same direction of the hair growth, allowing for the hair to naturally be removed from the entire root bulb, resulting in less breakage of the hairs. This leads to less re-growth and in time more permanence of hair removal.
Here are some sugaring hair removal tips for the best results and beautiful skin:
- 1. Make sure your hair is long enough. Your hair needs to be at least 1/4″ long before coming in for sugaring service. If your hair is too short, the sugar paste won’t be able to pick up the hair at the root. This might mean waiting a few weeks for your hair to grow out but this is essential for getting the results you want.
- Prepare your skin for the sugaring session. The better prepared you kin ia prior to sugaring, the better your results will be. You’ll need to make sure the area is as clean as possible and free of any oils and lotions. Exfoliating your skin the day before a sugaring session will help you achieve better results.
- Use a good moisturizer after your sugaring session. One of the best things you can do for your skin after hair removal is to shower and to apply moisturizer. Your skin will absorb any products you apply right after a shower fairly quickly so you’ll see results right away. A Shea butter body cream or a fragrance-free mineral oil free and petroleum free intensive body moisturizer can be very beneficial to the skin. If you have sensitive skin, use a moisturizer that contains aloe, chamomile, and other soothing ingredients. Apply moisturizer daily to keep that just sugared skin smooth and supple.
